SWFT National Space Intern Program FAQ
The National Space Intern (NSI) program provides interested students the opportunity to join a candidate pool for SWFT companies’ internship programs. After you register, companies will review your resume and reach out to selected candidates for the next steps in the internship application process. I registered for the National Space Intern program, what happens next?
Once your credentials are shared with our 30 member companies, you will receive an email confirmation from Space Workforce for Tomorrow. Recruiters from the member companies will review your resume and contact you with questions or next steps. If you are interested in working at a specific company, please use the links below to apply directly for an internship.
I haven’t received a confirmation email. What should I do?
If you did not receive an email confirmation, please check your spam and junk folders. If you cannot locate a confirmation email, please contact us at [email protected].
Can I apply if I have a Student Visa but am not a US citizen?
You must be a US Citizen or US Person to be considered for the National Space Intern Program.
Who is considered diverse or a person of color?
According to EEO guidelines, a person of color is someone who falls into one or more of the racial and ethnic categories below:
- American Indian or Alaska Native. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America (including Central America), and who maintains tribal affiliation or community attachment.
- Asian. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam.
- Black or African American. A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa.
- Hispanic or Latino. A person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race. The term, “Spanish origin,” can be used in addition to “Hispanic or Latino.”
- Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, or other Pacific Islands.
- Female / Non-binary
What STEM disciplines are essential for the National Space Intern Program?
Candidates who come from a variety of backgrounds, including but not limited to: Aerospace/Astro Engineering, Business, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber and Cyber Security, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Materials, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Optical/Imaging, Software Engineering, and Systems Engineering and other related disciplines.
What is the time commitment for the National Space Intern Program?
A standard summer internship with our member companies lasts approximately 10 weeks. Start and finish dates can be negotiated with an individual company, but you should expect to commit to a full-time position for the full 10 weeks.
How do I register?
To be considered for a National Space Intern opportunity, interested students must register and submit their resumes for consideration via this website. Some things to have ready before submitting the online form:

When should I register?
Registration opens September 1. Don’t wait! Our member companies’ interns are usually selected by early 2024 for the upcoming summer.

Yes! After you register, feel free to apply to open internship positions directly on their website.
